By Rob Rotten – Dudes From Dallas
That’s it. I’m done. Plain and simple. I’ve tried for the past week to look past David Hogg and his antics. I’m sick of hearing his name on the radio, seeing his face on TV and having his life cataloged on websites I frequent. I’m over it … I’m over it all.
I’m not holding back anymore.
After we talked about the March for Our Lives and the “Revolution” Hogg and his peers have taken on, I told myself that I was over it and done.
We talked about not wanting to feel manipulated by having kids thrown in our faces and being told that if we disagree with them we’re the jerks who want to see dead kids and not protect our schools.
I didn’t want to talk about him for a third week in a row, because honestly he’s just a serious beatdown.
But the crap he’s pulled this week is just ridiculous. Here’s the lowdown:
This past week we learned that Hogg didn’t get accepted to his first choice of college, and was rejected by a total of four colleges to which he applied. Of course he took to social media and anyone else that would hear him out to complain.
That in itself is pretty normal for a teenager … but it’s what came after that just straight pisses me off.
Nationally syndicated radio host and Fox News TV host Laura Ingraham teased him on Twitter, tweeting a link to the Daily Wire with the caption “David Hogg Rejected By Four Colleges To Which He Applied and whines about it. (Dinged by UCLA with a 4.1 GPA…totally predictable given acceptance rates.)”
It’s not exactly something none of us wouldn’t do. I personally would have tagged it #First World Problems
But Hogg got all Butt-Hurt and it was on from there.
He tweeted back “Soooo @IngrahamAngle what are your biggest advertisers … Asking for a friend. #BoycottIngramAdverts” then continued to post a list of companies that advertise on the network. The list included Sleep Number (which I love their beds), AT&T, Arby’s (who have the meats) and Hulu among others.
He also had his younger sister jump into the fray and defend him, saying “How low are your ratings @IngrahamAngle that you have to start attacking my brother’s grades to get attention? If you ask me, he is more articulate than you and has far better character. Man, that’s real low even for you. Coming from a 14 year old, please grow up. #Never Again.”
Three of the companies, TripAdvisor, Wayfair and Nutrish, said Thursday they would pull their ads. Rachel Ray, there was a time where I sang your praises, saying you could suck the chrome off a trailer hitch … but now I think you’re time is over.
Ingraham, no doubt under pressure from management apologized for her comments … but the advertisers are still leaving, and the punk bitch Hogg is not satisfied.
According to CNBC, TripAdvisor, in a statement, said they do not “condone the inappropriate comments made” by Ingraham.
“In our view, these statements focused on a high school student, cross the line of decency,” the statement added. “As such, we have made a decision to stop advertising on that program.”
Wayfair, in a statement, told the outlet, “As a company, we support open dialogue and debate on issues. However, the decision of an adult to personally criticize a high school student who has lost his classmates in an unspeakable tragedy is not consistent with our values.”
Now, it’s the last line of this statement that has gotten me just plain fed up.
This little bastard has been in the spotlight since Valentine’s Day. It’s been 45 days since the little prick has been front and center.
He’s done nothing during that time but attack people who don’t agree with him, spread lies and false information and build his “Brand” on social media. He aspires to be a professional journalist, and is using this to launch his career.
I’m not unsympathetic to what happened at the school, and if you listen to our previous shows, you’d know that. But, what I refuse to put up with is a little twit stepping to me like a man and then pulling the victim card when I step right back at him.
Why is it unacceptable to call him and the others out on what is utter BS? Why do we need to coddle them and hand them a carte blanche do and say what you want card? They need to learn there are consequences to words and actions in real life.
If you can’t handle yourself in the adult world, I highly suggest you just STFU and move on. As the old saying goes, “If you can’t stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen.”
I refuse to sit here and allow myself to be talked down to by a group of kids who won’t take the time to have a proper discussion. By stepping into the arena where I have made a living for nearly 20 years, you open yourself up for me to give my thoughts and opinions.
These advertisers pulling their ads are weak and don’t deserve anyone’s business. I’m not saying boycott them because I don’t think boycotts work. Knee jerk reactions are not the way to do business.
And as far as David Hogg goes, I now just plain refuse to give him the attention he is so craving and demanding. Guess what asshole, I’m the one with a microphone and I am in control of what I say and what I do. And as such, I refuse to give you the power to further influence me, the show’s content or alter my mood in any way shape or form.
Let me know when you’ve got a few years on you and you learn how to actually step up like a man without immediately turning into a little bitch. Your 15 minutes are almost up, and I will be forever grateful when they are.
